Malaysian Education System
Malaysia rose to socio-economic prominence with its well-organized education system. They formulated and implemented a sustainable plan for quality education which comprises long-term economic growth, global competitiveness, and so much more. The education levels in Malaysia are divided into 4 levels to develop competent, polite, and intellectually rich adults.
- Primary Education
In this stage, children are taught basic academic, social, and communication skills which seeds moral values and well-being in their overall development.
- Secondary Education
Students, aged between 13 to 17 years, get official academic education which deals with wide-ranging subjects. The secondary education is again divided into 2 parts: the lower secondary education and upper secondary education. Students take the Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3) examination at the end of lower secondary and the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination at the end of upper secondary.
- International Recognition
Many Malaysian universities are internationally recognized and accredited, making their degrees valuable globally.
- Post-Secondary Education
Students of 17 to 18 years start preparing for universities at this stage. The post-secondary education is an optional phase where they work to receive the Malaysian Higher School Certificate. However, students may also submit an application for matriculation. This course lasts for one or two years.
- Tertiary Education
Tertiary education is offered on a national basis in vocational and higher education sectors which have experienced significant growth.
